The Surly Moonlander is the ultimate exploration machine. Running massive 4.8" tires on 100mm rims, it floats over terrain that would stop ordinary bikes — wet roots, rocks, gravel, sand, snow, and everything in between. Low tire pressures allow it to act like a “snowshoe on wheels,” providing unmatched traction and float. True to its name, the Moonlander is built to go where no roads, trails, or ordinary bikes dare venture.
Crafted from 4130 CroMoly steel with frame-specific tubing, the Moonlander combines durability with a geometry reminiscent of standard mountain bikes. The bottom bracket height gives plenty of clearance for bushwhacking and technical obstacles, while remaining low enough for a stable, confidence-inspiring ride. 135mm horizontal dropouts with a derailleur hanger allow singlespeed setups, internal gear hubs, or standard derailleur drivetrains. The toptube maximizes standover height, while the headtube ensures a comfortable, all-day ride position.
