More Details

Elevate your drivetrain to the next level with the Nova Ride Carbon Ceramic Oversized Derailleur Cage, a precision-crafted upgrade designed for cyclists who demand uncompromising performance, mechanical refinement, and long-lasting quality. Developed by Nova Ride’s expert French engineers, this derailleur cage is built to maximize transmission efficiency while delivering the aesthetic and functional benefits of advanced materials and world-class design.

At the core of the Nova system is a lightweight carbon fiber cage, supporting two meticulously machined 7075 aluminum pulley wheels — a 14-tooth upper and a 17-tooth lower — that ensure superior chain guidance and optimized chain path. These oversized pulleys, combined with full ceramic sealed bearings, reduce drivetrain friction and enhance power transfer, particularly during high-cadence and high-wattage riding.

Unlike standard plastic pulley wheels that wear down quickly under load, Nova’s 7075 aluminum construction offers outstanding durability, even under rigorous racing conditions. Each bearing is fully ceramic and sealed, offering an ultra-smooth spin with zero oxidation risk, thanks to the protective alloy covers that shield against dirt, moisture, and debris. The result is a system that’s not just efficient — it's virtually maintenance-free.

This derailleur cage is strictly compatible with select Shimano 11-speed road groupsets, including:

  • Shimano 105 R7000

  • Shimano Ultegra R8000 / 8050 / 8070

  • Shimano Dura-Ace R9100 / 9150 / 9170

It works seamlessly with both mechanical and Di2 setups, but it is not compatible with clutch-equipped systems (Ultegra RD RX800/RX805), earlier 11-speed versions (like R6800/R9000), or Shimano’s newer 12-speed platforms (Ultegra R8100 & Dura-Ace R9200). Though the newer and older versions may share visual similarities, mechanical tolerances and geometry differ — cross-compatibility is not supported.

Core Features & Performance Benefits

  • Carbon Fiber Cage: Ultralight yet stiff, reducing weight while improving structural rigidity and shifting accuracy.

  • 7075 Aluminum Pulley Wheels: Oversized for decreased chain articulation and increased drivetrain efficiency.

  • Full Ceramic Sealed Bearings: Provide smoother rolling with lower resistance and superior longevity, immune to corrosion.

  • Alloy Bearing Covers: Add an extra layer of protection for the internals, keeping contaminants out and performance high.

  • Optimized for 11-Speed Shimano Systems: Designed for seamless compatibility and peak drivetrain performance.

Technical Specifications

  • Weight: Just 68 grams, making it one of the lightest oversized cages in its class.

  • Recommended Cassette Max: 32T for optimal shifting performance.

  • Chain Compatibility: Use a new chain, extending it by 3 to 5 links compared to your original chain for proper fitment.

Installation Notes

  • All Nova Ride derailleur cages are delivered in SS (short cage) version by default. If you are running a GS (long cage) derailleur, Nova Ride provides a video tutorial for adapting the system:

  • The installation is straightforward, but for optimal results and drivetrain integrity, it is recommended that a trained technician or experienced mechanic carries out the upgrade.
