The Cycling Federation of India (CFI) manages and supervises cycling competitions throughout the country through a collaboration with the State Cycling Association of India and approved event organizers. Events take place year-round across many different parts of India such as Pune, Noida, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Events under the CFI umbrella operate in compliance with the rules and regulations established by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) at both the national (CFI-sanctioned event) and international (UCI-sanctioned event) levels, which allows participants to compete on an impartial basis in an atmosphere where professionalism, safety and high-quality organisation are paramount.
CFI locations offer a wide variety of events, including professional road races, multi-day tours, city loop races and amateur events for novice riders. All course layouts are designed and supervised by a technical committee within the CFI and are designed to provide riders with a smooth surface to ride on; course markers and medical personnel at hydration stations along the course; and a working traffic control system routed to present-day to future years. All measures of safety such as mandatory helmets for all participants, safety marshals at each turn along the course, and emergency teams stationed at multiple locations are strictly adhered to at all CFI races to provide a safe and secure riding environment for all participants.
Over the years, A huge increase in participation in recent years in CFI-certified Events. For example the HCL Cyclothon (large event) has seen over 2600 participants total from one state alone, with thousands more around the country as well. Large-scale International races such as the Pune Grand Tour attract World-Class riders from various countries as well as offer points towards UCI Ranking. With expansion of the race schedules, growth of new locations and increased interest from both young and professional riders, CFI anticipates a further increase this year.
